VideoLAN Client (VLC) is an extremely complete multimedia player, able to play a wide variety of audio and video formats (MPEG 1/2/4, divX, Xvid, avi, ogg, MPEG Audio, mp3, vorbis, theora… ).
Besides files, it will also play DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, network streams (webRadio and webTV, UDP multicast and RTP/RTSP streams).
